Our approach
We embrace the Neuro-Diversity Affirmative approach to Autism and ADHD.
This means that we see Autism and ADHD not as ‘disorders’ but as different neuro-types that are a natural part of the many different ways the human brain can be wired.
We work with you and your child to discover what their neuro-type is through our evidence-based, child centred clinical assessments.

I’m Dr Julie Meehan, Clinical Director and Chartered Principal Clinical Psychologist at The Butterfly Practice.
I am so passionate about the neuro-affirmative approach to Autism and ADHD assessments that I founded The Butterfly Practice in 2023 to specialise in offering assessments to children and young people that hold them and their way of being at the heart of what we do.
What we do
Our assessments support you and your child to learn more about how their brain works so that you both can gain a deeper understanding of their neuro-type and how they experience and perceive themselves and the world.
We recognise your child’s amazing strengths whilst also identifying the significant needs and challenges that they may encounter in a world that doesn’t always value or support neuro-diversity.
Our assessments align with best practice guidelines and our reports are accepted by organisations such as the HSE and Department of Education, as well as higher level institutions.
